Let the magic of Jaipur at night whisk you away to experience India’s ‘pink’ city in a whole new set of lights - after dark! Throughout the year there’s always something being celebrated here; so whenever you join this tour, you’ll soak up the culture, architecture & entertainment filling Jaipur’s streets. If you’ve a more curious travel-mind needing something uber-special to satisfy it, then discovering an iconic city very differently to how the typical daytime tour does, is the way you need to do it!
Detailed description:The capital city of Rajasthan state, Jaipur is famous for its signature aesthetic. It is famously known as India’s ‘Pink city’ as many buildings here are painted terracotta pink. This began as a sign of hospitality for the visit of Queen Victoria’s husband Prince Albert in 1876. It’s now law that buildings in the historic centre are painted pink. This gives the city a remarkably romantic atmosphere - and there is nothing like seeing Jaipur’s flamboyance and its sights lit up at night as you walk among the beautiful liveliness of its streets and its colourful welcoming residents.
The tour takes in the most distinctive landmarks such as Hawa Mahal; a delicate honeycomb palace rising an incredible five-stories high, and the Jal Mahal (palace on water) located in the middle of the Man Sagar Lake. You’ll see the astronomical observation site Jantar Mantar, featuring the world’s largest sundial, as well as the dazzling light show that is the Sireh Deori Bazaar.
With the city truly coming alive and into its own at night, it is a wonderfully different way to see it than most tourists do during the daytime. Jaipur awaits you with bright lights, colour, character and wide open arms!
Hi my name is Raj, your local host and certified tour guide for “Jaipur By Night”. I have lived in and around Jaipur my whole life. This is my home and I am always thrilled to be able to share the city’s beauty, history vibrancy and eccentric nature with visitors from both across India and around the world.
I have been a licensed taxi driver for fifteen years now and so I know its streets and sights like the back of my own hand! Meeting new people and sharing my love for my home city is a real passion of mine - and so it made sense to apply for a tour guide certification to add to my taxi license when the opportunity came through from the Jaipur Tourism Bureau three years ago. I haven’t looked back!
With many traditions and celebrations happening in and around the city at any given time of the year - and day, Jaipur will always have something on offer to dazzle visitors. But, after years of exploring and being at the heart of this city, I know that nothing rivals the atmosphere and the opportunities to see the sights in their real glory than at nighttime. Many of my guests so far have also said its the ideal way to break up the endless generic city tour options that all happen during the day.
