Detailed description:

Come along and join this unique and personalised online workshop designed specifically to introduce adults to the fascinating world of ballet! We will spend our time together learning and dancing 10 of the steps underpinning this beautiful and timeless art form, performed to some of ballet's most magical and enchanting music. You will have the opportunity to learn how to artistically piece these moves together into a short routine to captivate your audience. You are welcome to record this routine at the end and keep it as the perfect piece of memorabilia to take away with you! In addition to being a brilliant introduction to ballet basics and fundamentals, this workshop is fun and invigorating. You can attend alone or with a group of friends.   Experience includes: 45 minutes: Warm up with ballet barre, a series of exercises to tone, strengthen and sculpt the body performed to beautiful classical music 45 minutes: Centre work introducing you to 10 steps that underpin all ballet repertoire and variations. You will establish a solid understanding of the foundations of ballet and better understand how our musicality and artistry helps us to master the art of storytelling and movement 30 minutes: We will then practice combining the steps we have learned to form sequences and dance routines, taking inspiration from iconic ballets such as Swan Lake, Don Quixote and The Nutcracker 15 minutes: We will close the session with a cool down, using a combination of Pilates techniques and yoga stretches to recentre ourselves and leave us feeling loose, refreshed and energised! Level: This class is perfectly suitable for those with no prior experience of ballet and those looking to enhance their technique and to develop a solid foundation for their ballet practice.

Places we'll visit

Learning ballet as an adult can be a daunting and intimidating experience. This is why it's wonderful to have the opportunity to experience it from the comfort of your own home! Learning in a space that is familiar to you helps you to relax and feel at ease. More experienced dancers require space and specialised flooring to execute fast travelling sequences, jumps and turns. But as a Beginner, the primary focus of a ballet lesson is developing our coordination, ballet terminology and our understanding of foundational movements. These are all things which can be worked towards safely from the comfort of your home. A small open space is sufficient and it is preferable to take your lesson in an area which is not carpeted. A chair or clear surface can be used as an accompanying ballet barre.
