As well as any other topics you want to ask about (as long as they are wine-related). Your presenter Gilbert is a fully qualified WSET (Wine and Spirit Education Trust) tutor, but he likes to have as much fun with wine as possible, so the day is not academic but presented in an informal and humorous style. You'll leave with a smile on your face, plus you will know a lot more about wine than when you started!
My original degree was in Chemistry, but I caught the wine bug working for 7 years at Steven Spurrier in his wine empire in Paris. During this time, I learned a lot about French wine, food, and spending more than you earn. I then progressed to teaching at l?Acad?mie du Vin, Steven?s wine school. Fully sated with all things French, I did a year?s winemaking at Castello di Uzzano in Chianti, where I came to realise that it isn?t only the French who make good wine.
Back in England since 1987, the Wine and Spirit Education Trust, and selling wine for various wine merchants, taught me about the rest of the world's wines. I passed the WSET Diploma and their Certified Educator qualification. I judge at the International Wine Challenge, and I am a member of the Association of Wine Educators and Circle of Wine Writers, so that?s the serious side. It?s presenting I enjoy most, though, and my style has been refined, if that is the right word, by twenty years of wine education for corporate and private groups.
The Atlas, the wine trade's favourite pub, features an excellent eclectic menu (so, ideal to accompany our wine tasting), and a superb wine and beer list for the unlikely event that you want to continue imbibing after the tasting.
