Let’s not forget that a good drink usually comes with good food and of course good music for the ultimate vibes. So, you’ll be served up the best BBQ + Samba beats whilst you learn to mix. You’ll be doing it in the most genuine way possible: in a friendly local home, right in the heart of Rio.Detailed description:
We invite you to our home to gather, learn, eat and drink, getting to know each other in an upbeat, friendly and fun atmosphere!
We start with a talk led by Bruna who will explain everything about the Caipirinha and the process of making Cachaça (a Brazilian spirit made from sugar cane). She will also then lead an interactive class where you will learn how to make the most traditional Brazilian cocktail: the Caipirinha.
You’ll learn to make the typical Caipirinha made with the Cachaça, ice, lime, sugar and of course some love! Amazing versions also are made with spirit alternatives like vodka, and all sorts of fruits like strawberries, passion fruit, tangerines, pineapples, grapes, kiwis & star fruits, So, we’ll also be making some non-traditional mixtures too!
You will get hands-on with measuring and mixing, going step by step through the secrets behind the best Caipirinhas. The ingredients and utensils we use are generally easy to source wherever you are in the world, so you can take your new skills home with you!.
Whilst you learn and mix drinks with Bruna, Tiago will be in charge of keeping the Samba beats in full swing and also preparing an amazing traditional Brazilian BBQ with meats, rice, farofa (cassava flour) and salads for you to enjoy after the talk & class.
Hi everyone!! We are Bruna and Tiago: a married couple living in Rio.
Bruna: I am a certified tour guide in Rio and as a "carioca" (‘local’) have always enjoyed gathering my friends and guests at home for a Brazilian BBQ - always served with a good traditional Caipirinha. Overtime, I became the ‘official’ mixologist at dinners, barbecues, parties or gatherings at my own home or any of my friend’s places. Working as a bartender and waitress in Barcelona for two years while studying away in my twenties definitely helped my expertise!
Tiago: I work in finance for a large retailer here in Rio, but my truest and greatest passion is good home-made food. I love cooking for friends and family, getting so much joy from the community, friendly feel of a barbecue particularly.
Together we feel that we make a great team, and as locals can provide an authentic experience for anyone looking for it in Rio! We are always happy to share tips for your visit, whether its the best neighbourhoods, restaurants, beaches or day trips to enjoy. With heaps of knowledge between us of the city and surrounding areas, we love helping people in Rio feel welcome, safe and supported.
