Chess has come into the spotlight over the last year, being embraced by popular culture in the hit Netflix show “The Queen's Gambit”. So, if like for many people it has sparked an interest in you taking up the game - or if you have already begun and want a way to fast-track your skills and mastery of it… this experience is the perfect opportunity to. What’s even better, is that you can do it from the comfort of your own home wherever you are in the world, hosted by an expert chess teacher!Detailed description:
The class being one-on one means I can really dedicate the experience to your current expertise (whether its lots or or none!) I’ll be able to pinpoint any strengths & weaknesses in your game and better answer any particular questions you have.
I have a template session for each skill level, but I’ll happily create one that’s in line with where you are on your chess journey and what you may want to focus on. For some people this may mean a complete introduction into how the game works, like the basic rules, do’s & don’ts. For others it means playing a game from the get-go!
Competition is always part of a healthy, winners mindset in chess and any sport, but I’m all about making the experience about fun and just as much about an opportunity to link up with personalities from around the world.
It’s Elias here: your host and chess instructor! Chess forms some of my earliest memories, with it being a great tradition in my family’s history. The passion for the game originated with my great-grandfather and the love for it has been passed down the generations. I grew from playing chess with family & friends to competing at school, to playing on my university chess team, to eventually competing on a German national level.
I took the title of German National Chess Master in 2015 . While I still compete in tournaments, I’ve taken a step back over the past four years after marrying and becoming a dad. My focus is now teaching competitive level at chess clubs here in Germany. I’ve also been able to travel internationally throughout Europe over the past two years as a guest instructor (with my wife and daughter in tow!)
I began hosting online classes and workshops in 2020 after seeing a huge demand for it after the global popularity of The Queens Gambit series. This has given me a wonderful chance to connect with so many new chess fans from all walks of life and I’m really looking forward to meeting even more. I invite you to share your passion and skills on-screen and on the board with me!
