About the experience

Experience Duration : 3 hrs
Detailed description:

Portuguese cuisine is a rich and diverse mix of fresh ingredients and innovative combinations.

In this tailor-made and exclusive food workshop, you will learn a very simple (yet a show-stopper) starter and dessert using well-known Portuguese ingredients that, contrary to what you might think, are accessible and easy to replicate at home by anyone.

We will start by doing "bolinhas de alheira", these bite-sized meat and cheesy yummy balls are the perfect starter for family and friends, or you can serve them as a snack.

We will then make a "Pudim abade Priscos," a traditional Portuguese dessert that will make your friends and family ask you for the recipe!

What does Alheira mean?

It is in northeastern Portugal, in the regions of Tr?s-os-Montes and Beira Alta, that alheira, a traditional homemade sausage that typically represents Portuguese family and popular cuisine, is originally from.

The horseshoe-shaped alheira is mainly composed of poultry, bread, olive oil, garlic and chilli pepper. A rather spicy sausage!

The name alheira, derived from the Portuguese word alho meaning "garlic", is used to refer to all types of sausages seasoned with this ingredient.

Can I find it in the UK and other countries?

Yes, It's called Portuguese garlic sausage.

What is Port wine?

Port is a sweet wine with flavours of raspberry, blackberry, caramel, cinnamon, and chocolate sauce. Sound delicious? It is!

Port wine (also known as vinho do Porto) is a Portuguese fortified wine produced in the Douro Valley of northern Portugal.

It is typically a sweet red wine, often served with dessert.

Can I find it in the UK and other countries?

Yes, It's called Port wine.
