Join our beginner-friendly screen printing workshop in the heart of Amsterdam's vibrant artist community, Maakgemeenshap De Hoop. In this hands-on experience, you'll learn the basics of silkscreen printing (zeefdruk) and create your own one-color design on t-shirts to take home. No prior experience is needed, making it perfect for those new to the world of screen printing.
Detailed description:What to Expect: Send your design (smaller than 21 x 29 cm, A4, and 300dpi) at least one week before the workshop. After purchasing a ticket, you'll receive detailed instructions on how to submit your design via email. At the workshop: Receive your design as a film positive for screen exposure. Learn how to coat screens with light-sensitive emulsion and expose your design. Choose your ink colour and prepare your printing station. Practice on tester shirts to build confidence and ensure a good print. Print your design on the shirts. Clean screens, squeegees, and pallet knives, and tidy up the station. Cure the shirts with a heat press for long-lasting prints. By the end of the workshop, you'll have gained a solid understanding of the silkscreen printing process and created custom t-shirts to show off your new found skills. Please Note: This workshop focuses only on the basics of screen printing on t-shirts and is not a comprehensive introduction to the silkscreen workspace. Welcome! My name is Lauren and I've been passionate about silkscreen printing ever since I discovered it in Art college in the UK. For the last 8 years, I've been working as a professional silkscreen printer at a water-based t-shirt printing company in Amsterdam. I truly enjoy teaching others about this craft because it's amazing how anyone can achieve fantastic results with no prior experience. My approach is to share as much knowledge as possible while keeping a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. These workshops are great for people wanting to try something new and creative. The workshop takes place at the open access silk screen printing studio in Maakgemeenshap De Hoop. As you attend the workshop, you'll also have a chance to explore the vast creative space filled with artists and makers, offering a unique off-the-beaten-path experience in Amsterdam.
