About the experience

Experience Duration : 3 hrs
Experience Summary:

Nature lovers join your host, artist Rachel Evans,  as she guides you through this botanical cyanotype workshop. Create your own unique, one-of-a-kind prints using dried flowers, grasses and the alternative photography process of Cyanotype. It is a fantastic technique as an introduction to printmaking for beginners as well as those with an interest in alternative photography techniques.

Detailed description:

Cyanotype is a very simple yet versatile printmaking technique, and is one of the oldest alternative photography techniques. We lay objects onto sensitised paper, and expose it to UV light revealing a completely one-of-a-kind print in a gorgeous cyan blue colour. It is a fantastic technique as an introduction to printmaking and those with an interest in alternative photography techniques. Absolutely no previous experience of painting or drawing is necessary to enjoy this fascinating and relaxing workshop. These workshops are open to complete beginners as well as those who have some experience. About the host

Hi! I'm Rach, an artist printmaker and workshop facilitator with a decade of printmaking experience.  I absolutely love sharing my passion through workshops, encouraging people to play and experiment in a peaceful and supportive environment. It's wonderful to see people express themselves, gain confidence, stumble on a new hobby or re-discover an activity they once enjoyed.  In addition to workshops, I exhibit my work regularly in both group and solo shows throughout the region. I also collaborate with other creative disciplines on projects such as creating cover art for local music labels.

Places we'll visit

The Village Hall on Deansgate Mews is a perfect workshop setting, along the side of the beautiful Great Northern Warehouse.  A bright and airy space, accessible by lift, with kitchen and toilet facilities all on the same level. As a city centre location it is very easy to get to, and in a perfect place to explore the wonders of Manchester before and after the workshop.
