At this 4 hour workshop you will acquire techniques in direct method with a professional artist in a calm studio with park view. You will be able to grout the piece to take home, ready to hang. This will also make a lovely gift.
Detailed description:You will lay out your house number design in your chosen format and font, then chose your colour scheme and pattern from a selection of ceramic and vintage china tiles, sea glass and other embellishments.
Following this you will be guided in techniques for cutting, shaping and directional flow techniques for laying the tiles. Get to use specific tools with insightful making tips! After adhering the tiles and grouting, the piece will finally be ready to take home.
Through this engaging and hands on experience you will be creating something completely individual that enhances the look of your home for you and your visitors to enjoy. You will also get to spend some quality time in an inspiring art studio in a relaxing environment, and learn from an experienced professional who has made work in the public realm. You are welcome to have a direct conversation with the artist about commissioning further work for your home or garden.
Hi. My name is Debra and I love sharing my passion for hands on mosaic making so others can enjoy playing with colour, shapes and pattern to get dynamic results. As a professional art teacher and artist, I have created mosaic designs for tube stations and local areas in community projects and school mosaics but also love to involve others in the communal side of making together!
I have also made commissioned work that includes portraits and large scale garden wall features, as well as pots and sculpture. With a Mosaic in Diploma Studies learning the ancient art of mosaic from Romans to Byzantine methods, and a Fine Art Painting background, I am also passionate about the history of this enduring and fascinating art form.
