Detailed description:

"I absolutely love a relaxing crochet day-retreat—it's my kind of heaven!

Join me for a crochet day retreat that promises to immerse you in a world you'll absolutely adore! From the moment you step through the doors, just relax and enjoy laughter, crochet, delicious food, breathtaking scenery, and the company of wonderful, like-minded people. And let's not forget more crochet! All set in the amazing heart of Cheshire.

Come alone or with friends—our retreats are intentionally kept small. This way, we can share together as a group, offering one-on-one help and advice if needed. Whether you're travelling alone or with friends, you'll feel included and part of the event without the worry of being in an intimidating large group or a 'clique.'

Take inspiration from others who share the same passion for crochet and yarn as you do. I'll be there to assist you if you're still learning the yarns, offering one-to-one guidance if you're new to certain aspects of crochet or would like some expert tuition on areas you'd like to improve.

Now, let's talk about the venue—Crewe Hall, Cheshire. Picture this: a 17th-century mansion and Grade I listed hotel surrounded by 8 acres of beautifully landscaped gardens. It's a place that oozes glamour, elegance, and breathless romance. This iconic building once hosted royalty and is now ready to welcome you for a truly remarkable retreat experience.

What's in store?  The first session kicks off around 10 am, with arrivals at 9.30 am in the hotel lounge for everyone to settle in, have some refreshments and get acquainted. Lunch is served in the venue's restaurant, and you'll have time to break out, stretch those hands and legs, and get ready for the afternoon. Help yourself to unlimited teas and coffees throughout your day retreat. I'll be there during crochet sessions to assist if you're still learning the yarns or need help with any other crochet topics.

There will be a project for you to accomplish on the day, but feel free to bring your own projects to work on too. Your day retreat is all about relaxation, and you can choose to crochet as much or as little as you like.

Your crochet day retreat includes everything you need:

  • All yarns, patterns, and materials for the day.
  • Morning and afternoon crochet sessions, with how-to guidance and help on hand.
  • A relaxing lunch with a lovely selection of seasonal foods.
  • Unlimited tea, coffee, cold drinks, snacks & pastries.

Settle your crafty things into our own private crafting room in the morning, and you can leave them there until you leave. Bury yourself in yarn for the day!

So, what do you need to bring?   You'll receive all the materials you need, but don't forget your hooks, stitch markers, scissors, and maybe a yarn/tapestry needle, depending on the project. But hey, I know that any crochet lover like me never leaves home without their current WIP, so feel free to bring whatever you like to have the best day ever!"

Do I need to be an expert to join?  No worries if you're not an expert yet—just bring your enthusiasm! To ensure everyone has a seamless and enjoyable experience, it's crucial that participants have a foundational understanding of basic crochet stitches both in the row and in the round. The ability to crochet these fundamental stitches will serve as an essential prerequisite for our day retreat.  In preparation for the retreat, I offer beginner classes both online and in-person. These classes are designed to help you master the foundational stitches in a relaxed and encouraging environment. It's a fantastic opportunity to build confidence and refine your skills before joining our crochet day retreat.

Don't fret if you're still honing your skills; I'll be right there to guide you through the process. The focus is on enjoying the craft and having a fantastic time with fellow crochet enthusiasts. Whether you're a seasoned pro or just starting your crochet journey, this retreat is designed for everyone who shares the love of yarn and creativity.

About the host

Welcome! I'm Emma, the heart behind this creative endeavour fuelled by my unwavering passion for crochet. My love affair with the artistry of crochet began 15 years ago, offering me a therapeutic escape and a canvas for crafting beauty with a simple hook and yarn.

In the midst of juggling family life and a conventional 9-5 job, I birthed Oh So Pretty And Clever with a mission—to share the joy and fulfilment that crochet has brought to my life. In 2019, I took the leap, transforming my ardour into a full-time business. Today, I am dedicated to spreading the magic of crochet through a spectrum of workshops, both online and in-person in the picturesque landscapes of Cheshire.

As my workshops flourished, so did my vision. Beyond the stitches, I aspired to cultivate a community—a sanctuary for like-minded souls who share a profound love for crochet and seek meaningful connections. This aspiration gave birth to my crochet retreats, where the art of crochet intertwines with the joy of camaraderie.
