A fun way to experience authentic Indian food inspired by my childhood in Gujarat. Seasonal menu inspired by the flavours of Gujarat with locally resourced ingredients. Veggie and Vegan options. BYOB.
Detailed description:If you want to try authentic Gujarati food in a relaxed but fun social setting, you've come to the right place! The menu is inspired by my childhood in the colourful city of Rajkot, Gujarat.
'Jamanvar' means 'feast' in Gujarati and that's exactly what you will get at this supper club - a feast of flavours with a wide range of exciting but comforting dishes.
The menu is seasonal, and everything served is vegetarian with vegan options also available. The exact location will be sent to you a week before the event.
I’m Akshi and I am from Gujarat, India. I grew up in a small town called Rajkot which is no longer a town. In fact, Rajkot is now the 3rd fastest developing city in the world! I moved to the UK in 2017 for my Master’s in Applied Linguistics and fell in love with the city and most of all, a wonderful silly schoolteacher that I worked with. We’re complete opposites in terms of food - he loves eating meat and fish and I’m a vegetarian. Still, our love for food and cooking grows stronger each year. We’re now married and live in North London with our beautiful Siamese cats Jimmy and Omar. The supper club is hosted at our residence.
I am a teacher of English as a Foreign Language and love to travel and try new foods. My favourite cuisine outside of Gujarati food is Sichuan style Chinese. My monthly supper club has been attended by some amazing people, including the wonderful @imadalarnab of @imadssyriankitchen. I love sharing the food and recipes of my childhood with people and hope to see you at the next supper club!
