About the experience

Experience Duration : 2 hrs
Experience Summary:

Ever wanted to try your hand at throwing down on the pottery wheel? Join us at our cosy Shoreditch clay studio and get ready to get muddy! Complete beginners are perfect and old hats are welcome too. Learn the fundamentals of throwing on the wheel, then put your newfound skills to the test in a fun throwing competition with your friends! Afterwards, slow down and enjoy the process by crafting a sweet little pot as a memento of your experience.

Detailed description:

The moment you walk through the studio doors for this 2-hour class, you'll be greeted by your friendly and skilled teacher and immediately get to work learning how to prepare your clay for your throwing experience.

Your tutor will demonstrate the fundamentals of throwing on the wheel then it'll be your turn to try out centring, pulling and shaping! You'll then be invited to participate in a throwing challenge to test out your newfound skills. Don't worry if this is your first time getting behind the potter's wheel; with a maximum group of 4, you will have tons of attention from your skilled tutor and come away with in-depth knowledge of an amazing craft.

Afterwards, cool down from the competition and enjoy the slow process of creating a sweet little pot to call your own.

Please note:

Getting dirty is half of the fun! Please wear clothing you don't mind getting a bit muddy.

We'll be using our hands to shape the clay, so having short nails helps!

The studio will fire and glaze your pot, then ship it to you in 3-4 weeks. If you require international shipping, an additional fee may apply and can be paid on the day of your class.

By the way, our studio is tucked away in an incredible part of London. Make a day of it and explore all that our sweet corner of Shoreditch has to offer. Walk down Columbia Road and check out the amazing independent shops or grab a bite at the award-winning local restaurants or tasty bakeries and cafes. Dust yourself off and head to Redchurch for some serious fashion shopping. There's so much to explore. We are completely in love with our community and know you'll love it too.
