Welcome to the world of wire sculpture. Insects ,Dragon flies, Fairy archer, mushrooms , abstract art . we are limited only by our imagination. In a one day course students will be taught a range of skills needed to make wire sculpture. Those include : wire selection and preparation . The correct use of an electric soldering iron, how to solder perfect joints using flux and solder. The other skill is how to form wire into very accurate shapes that are then soldered together to form a 2D or 3D wire sculpture
Detailed description:Soldering is a bit of a lost art, is still widely used in the electronics industry. Soldering is not difficult provided you follow some important steps . Soldered wire sculpture uses copper brass and some galvanized steel wire to create almost anything using a range of wire and sizes . To get accuracy all my sculptures are made from a drawing template , wire are formed using formers and drawing with a system i have developed which means anyone can make a simple but perfectly formed wire sculpture. With the skills I have taught you ,Student will make a simple sculpture to take home
Hi my name is Roger I'm an electrical mechanical engineer with a 30 year career in military avionics. I'm also an artist and dreamer . By combining these skills I am able to produce some of the finest wire sculpture in the world . My award winning dragonflies are some of the most detailed and accurate you will find , and my fairy archers and other large commission pieces sell for thousands of pounds . I love to share my passion for teaching other people the skills i have accumulated over a life time of making things with bits of wire . After being laid off after a long career , I was ready for a change so I started making and selling and then teaching wire sculpture.
I have been running workshops at my home studio for about 10years I have taught over 300 students wire sculpture or welding .
All students get full support after they have had a lesson
The course will take place in my Studio set on the edge of Woolmer forest in Hampshire . GU35 Surrounded by forest and wildlife its easy to become inspired My large studio wire sculpture work shop has every thing you need to make your wire sculpture.
